Humanity & Inclusion UK

Humanity & Inclusion (HI) was founded in 1982 by two doctors appalled by the lack of care for people who had lost their limbs stepping on landmines during the Cambodian refugee crisis at the Thai border. Today, it works tirelessly in 50 countries across Africa, Asia, the Middle East, Central and South America. To improve the lives of people with disabilities and the most vulnerable, it provides vital supplies, physical therapy, and psychological support to those affected by conflicts and natural disasters, aiding the injured and traumatised. Moreover, it works to clear countries of unexploded weapons and carry out global lobbying and awareness-raising activities on key issues affecting people with disabilities. HI helps ensure their inclusion in education, work, healthcare and society, and that their basic needs and rights are taken care of.

In 1997, HI was jointly awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for its successful work on the International Campaign to Ban Landmines. HI still campaigns against all explosive weapons which indiscriminately kill and cause life-changing injuries.

Over the last 42 years, Humanity & Inclusion has changed the lives of millions of disabled and vulnerable people.
